TIM TEBOW FIRST PERSON LEADERSHIP

Posted on December 22, 2011 by Tony Wood

There are many things I love about Tim Tebow but one quality that stands out is Tim’s ability to glorify everything other than Tim Tebow. Often its God, other times its his teammates, and one time I even heard him praise a Filipino child 6000 miles away.

Tim’s a great leader and it comes out in how he uses the First Person. When Tim loses, he states, “I messed up” (first person singular). When Tim wins, he states, “We did well” (first person plural). Every question, every interview, every opportunity. The wins are “We” and the losses are “I”. Tim has learned the lesson of First Person leadership!

So, when we’re in meetings, around the dinner table, in class, or hanging with friends, what do we do? Do we use our platform to showcase joint success or personal glory? Do we use our position to publicize our accomplishments?

Christmas celebrates the ultimate leader. He loved the “We” so much, He died for them.
